# Project Setup and Initialization

This document outlines the steps taken to initialize the development environment for the MCP Orchestration Platform.

## 1. Directory Structure
The foundational structure has been verified and matches the architectural guidelines:
- `mcp-servers/`: Microservices for individual MCP tools.
- `mega_orchestrator/`: Gateway and orchestration core.
- `services/`: Shared services like the Vault Secrets UI.
- `monitoring/`: Configuration for Prometheus, Grafana, and Loki.
- `scripts/`: Operational scripts for maintenance and deployment.
- `tests/`: Integration and repository-level tests.

## 2. Configuration and Environment
- `.env.example` has been copied to `.env`.
- Project root and data directories are configured in `.env`.
- Path variables are set for portability across different Docker environments.

## 3. Version Control
- Git is initialized.
- A comprehensive `.gitignore` is in place, covering sensitive data, logs, database files, and temporary artifacts.

## 4. Coding Standards
We have established coding standards using the following tools:
- **Black**: Code formatting (line length 100).
- **Isort**: Import sorting.
- **Flake8/Pylint**: Linting and style checks.
- **Mypy**: Static type checking.
- **Pytest**: Testing framework with async support and coverage reporting.

Configuration is centralized in `pyproject.toml` and `.editorconfig`.

## 5. Shared Utilities
Foundational utilities have been added to `mega_orchestrator/utils/`:
- `logging.py`: Standardized logging configuration for all services.
- `errors.py`: Custom exception classes and standardized error handling for consistent API responses.

## 6. Development Workflow
1. Ensure Docker and Docker Compose are installed.
2. Review and update `.env` with actual API keys and secrets.
3. Start the stack using:
   ```bash
   docker compose up -d
   ```
4. Run tests to verify the installation:
   ```bash
   pytest
   ```
